Introduction to Deer Stalking.

We offer an Introduction to Deer Stalking course for either complete novices or individuals who would like to further their knowledge in Deer Stalking. This can be tailored to your needs; an example of what we can offer is as follows.

Overseas stalkers may also find this an invaluable experience to ensure that they are fully aware of the law with regard to deer stalking practice in Scotland.

Day 1: A morning in the classroom covering The Law, Animal Identification, Safe Stalking Practice, with the afternoon on the range for instruction on rifle safety and target practice.

Day 2: Professionally guided stalking to put into practice the previous days theory.

A certificate of course attendance is issued.

Price £370.00 + vat per person. This includes ammunition & 1 night B&B. Suitable for 1 to 3 persons.

Formal Qualifications.

Deer stalkers are under increasing pressure to demonstrate their competence in carrying out their sport. Safety, hygiene and humane despatch are all areas that require stalkers to be fully aware of their legislative requirements. The police and landowners need to ensure that an individual is competent in the safe use of their firearm; the Level 1 is demonstration of basic knowledge and safety competence.

We can offer DSC Level 1 preparation, including all aspects of the requirements to attain the required level of knowledge. A certificate will be issued with confirmation of attendance. This preparatory course is carried out over two days and can also be linked with some accompanied stalking, if you wish to actually stalk deer.

Price £300.00 +vat. This includes 1 night B&B & is suitable for 1 to 3 persons.

The DSC level 1 assessment can then be arranged by the stalker at their local DMQ assessment centre to attain the level 1 Deer Stalking Certificate.

We can offer DSC Level 2 preparation, for deer stalkers who would either like to move towards the DSC Level 2 certificate or even just enhance their knowledge in Deer Stalking.

This includes practical stalking in the field techniques as follows:

Stalking and high seat techniques, Taking the shot and reaction to shot, approach and follow up, extraction and carcass preparation for sale. This two day course is certificated and can be used as evidence of training and practical experience as part of your level 2 certificate.

Price £150.00 + vat per person per day. Suitable for 1 to 3 persons.

We can offer DSC Level 2 preparation and assessments, these will be carried out by an accredited witness and full advice will be given in completing your portfolio. The preparation for the actual assessments will depend on the individuals experience and will be designed to accommodate your skill level. The actual assessments will be arranged with you again depending on the stalkers experience.

Price. £250.00 + vat per day. This includes 1 day witnessed stalking with the possibility of 1 kill. Any further kill in any one day is £50.00 + vat per animal.
